Installation and Documentation Nightmare

Took me three weeks to get this product to work.
Was a horrible nightmare to to install and understand how to import reports into it and make them actually work.

Cons:

1. No Installation Guide (maybe old ones from 2008 that arn't relevant) - by installation, i don't mean using the module loader but actually to get it to work without errors.
Had to copy files from here to there, improvise a configurion in the admin , understand java installations and more.....

2. Poor documentation - hardly found on google.

3. No Forum or place to ask questions - No forum on ZuckerFriends site, no responding on emails (ignoring you completly at office@zuckerfriends.com).
and people in the forum of JasperSoft doesn't know what zuckerReport is.

4. For English SugarCRM Users only - Doesn't support inserting UTF-8 characters in report Paramter fields (after detecting that , had to adjust the report specifically in IReport so the report will work)

5. Has debug mode but the errors are a group of sentences you can't understand anything from.

Pros
1. updated frequently.
2. Nice product after all the above difculties.

Don't use this product if you don't know IReport (java Report builder) - had to study it together with this product.

in short:
I admire developers sharing code with others so i guess zuckerReport are doing a good thing by shring it. but if they are doing so , they must understand that they have to provide some basic support and documentation. unless none of this mean a thing.
It's like giving people money for free, but telling them to exchange 5 buses and two trains rides in three weeks in order to pick it up..

A must for sugarcrm CE!

I do not understand, why it does not become part of the regular edition. Unfortunately the 2.0 version does not allow direct mysyl queries anymore.

Can't Install

The module loader reported 100% upload yet no files were uploaded hence I could not even install to review. I have installed other modules successfully so I would guess this product doesn't work.

Stupid business model

An OS business model in which you have to pay for installation instructions is dumb dumb dumb. It would be better if they spent some time in updating a rather outdated interface and charging for it

Great module

I love this module. We've been using it now for over 12 months and have developed loads of reports using iReport which we then upload into ZuckerReports on run in SugarCRM CE. We have also scheduled different reports to run each day/week which are automatically emailed to recipients.

Blowing up enitre CRM's... No install instructions with a fairly hefty fee... All the positive reviews are from the developers of the product. Not trivial to get working... I'd give them a 50 on the Suck-O-Meter

I'm really disappointed. The installation instructions are $60... SERIOUSLY???? I don't expect you to give me the whole thing. But the installation?? Really??? What a rip off.

I agree with the previous poster. Any one who wants to sell a commercial module is fine but this... PRETENDING to be OSS... I haven't even gotten this installed yet, and they've already lied to me. That doesn't bode well.

error installing on 5.2.0c

IN the module loader, provoques an error:
Fatal error: SugarBean::require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '' (include_path='/var/www/web1/web/crmsugar/include/..:.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/web1/web/crmsugar/data/SugarBean.php on line 3370

Fortunately, I can run still , system is safe. Poor quality or not for my version 5.2

Killed my Sugar installation completely

Unfortunately all this has done for me is completely killed my Sugar install. Prior to this everything was running a dream, now I can't even login. At least 2 others appear to have had the exact same experience (a relief as I was starting to think it was just me):

A must

Adding complex reports (once you have got your head round Ireport / Jasper) is a breeze.

Doing the work to understand this reporting module is well worth the time invested, in fact SugarCRM would be useless without it.

Really amust have...

Warning ... you need to be a bit tech savy wrt SQL and running a Java app. I loaded this on a Mac OS X machine along with iReports and created simple reports (account listings etc) within 30 minutes. Ability to provide parameters at runtime is great. Could be more user friendly UI. For example I just want to run the report from the list of templates without clicking on it, then clicking on run report, then selecting report type [html, pdf, xml] then running the actual report. Perhaps buttons in the list view that let us get to the last screen would speed up the user experience. Otherwise a very very useful module.

Great Stuff

It is really easy to produce a simple report using sql. The more knowledge of SQL you have the greater value your reports will be. When used in conjunction with iReports it comes into its own. Giving grouping, subtotaling, colours and what ifs.
This is a MUST HAVE module.

The missing link

An absolutely first class piece of work. We had been banging our heads off the wall with iReports. This bridges the gap between Jasper and Sugar and really does make the Open Source version commercially valuable. Up until now, the SugarCRm contained data. Thanks to this project, it now contains information.

CONGRATULATIONS FOR PRODUCING WHAT IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT COMMUNITY PROJECT.

Invaluable

I am so glad I found ZuckerReports. It ois easy to setup. It is easy to use (once you find the proper documents). It requires a good deal of knoqledge of SugarCRM is setup to use other languages then English (I am using dutch). I had to copy the english language files to the proper dutch language files, and after that it took me a while to figure out how to create a Word template from scratch ( see the documentation of the ZuckerReport PRO 1.5 version... ;-) )

It is great. There are some glitches, but see the forums for solutions to most of them. Great software (and I haven't even looked at iReport yet!

Add one of the best reporting tool (JasperReport) to SugarCrm is a very good idea and well implemented (work without TOMCAT JSP server).Integration in SugarCrm IU is also very good.

As far as reporting modules go, this is a must for SugarCRM-CE users.

One of the best reporint tool available. With the current version 1.6d enhancements has been made to make query templates are available which is invaluable for an output of information to your spreadsheet program for more manipulation of data. The ZuckerReports integrates well with iReports and can produce reports in a printable format.

It does require a fairly good knowledge of SQL, yet you would be expected to for generation of any reports from a database. The initial setup has now been made a lot easier and it is just a matter of changing a line within the config.php depending on the environment of which your java is installed.

The Help Forum is an invaluable resource for information and the development team and others who use the program tends to be fairly speedy with responses if you were to run into any problems.

A fantastic and very powerful Reporting program.
A little tricky to use without a reasonably good knowledge of SQL and tricky to get set up with Java (but this is not ZuckerReports fault).
The support on the Forum is also very good.
